What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI a San Francisco-based startup.

OpenAI was co-founded in 2015 by Elon Musk and Sam Altman and is backed by well-known investors — most notably Microsoft and released in November 2022.


What is meant by ChatGPT?

GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. It refers to the architecture ChatGPT uses to understand the context and relationships .

What is ChatGPT used for?

ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool driven by AI technology that allows you to have human-like conversations and much more with the chatbot. The language model can answer questions and assist you with tasks, such as composing emails, essays, and code.

InstructGPT

ChatGPT is a sibling model to InstructGPT, which is trained to follow an instruction in a prompt and provide a detailed response.

The dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer followup questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests.
