There's no definitive answer to when we'll see aliens, but here's some information about the search for extraterrestrial life(SETI is NASA project to find extraterrestrial life)-

Improved technology is speeding up the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI).

Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer for the SETI Institute, is optimistic that we'll make contact with aliens in our lifetime. 

Aliens could observe Earth

According to a report in Nature, aliens could observe Earth from hundreds of nearby star systems.

NASA's Chief Scientist

NASA's Chief Scientist predicts that signs of alien life will be found by 2025.

What to do when we see them?

Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer for the SETI Institute says

"If they arrive, personally, I’m going to buy a lot of frozen pizza and head for the hills,If they can get here, as opposed to transmitting a message, they are more advanced than we are by an enormous margin."
