Ozobot Boat Race -STEM activity
Ozobot Boat Race -STEM activity
You can turn an Ozobot into a "boat" for a race by attaching it to a lightweight foam or paper boat hull. Since Ozobots use optical sensors on their bottom, the robot should sit in the hull with its wheels touching the track directly underneath.
Ozobots are not designed for water and will break if submerged. Instead, they power boat races on "dry water" by following black lines drawn on paper.
The Boat
Build the Boats The Hull: Use lightweight materials like craft foam, cardboard, or a paper cup.
Cut a center hole so the Ozobot can drop in. The bot's wheels must make solid contact with the racing surface to propel the boat forward.
The Tracks
Use thick black markers to draw the path.
Speed Codes: Draw short sequences of colored blocks (like Blue-Red-Blue for "Nitro Boost") along the line so your Ozobot-powered boat speeds up during certain sections.
Obstacles & Turns: Incorporate Color Codes to make your bot perform U-turns, spins, or even zig-zags to make the race more challenging.
